- Editing (or “Line Editing”). Stylistic in nature, providing a big picture review to enhance flow, style, readability, and consistency of voice and tone. May include reworking concepts and overall organization.
- Copyediting. Technical in nature, focusing on checking for consistency in grammar, syntax, spelling, punctuation, and formatting. Typically limited to edits within sentences and paragraphs.
- Proofreading. Checking for misspellings, grammatical and typographical errors, as well as any inconsistencies in formatting.
